Impact
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for managing and advancing the full volunteer engagement cycle at JACF. This includes prospecting, recruiting, onboarding, stewarding, and tracking volunteer participation across all JACF programming. The role requires a strong blend of relationship-building, event networking, and internal coordination. As the first point of contact for all prospective volunteers, the Volunteer Manager ensures individuals are appropriately engaged and placed in aligned volunteer opportunities. This position collaborates cross-functionally with opportunity leads, including the 3DE Partnership Engagement Managers, Inspire Lead, and BizTown Lead.
Primary Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach
● Serve as the first point of contact for all volunteer inquiries, applications, and paperwork.
● Collaborate with marketing to promote opportunities and celebrate volunteer contributions.
● Identify and actively seek speaking, networking, and tabling engagements to generate interest in high-need volunteer areas that can convert to funders and can mirror the school population.
● Build and sustain relationships with individuals, community groups, and corporate partners to expand JACF’s volunteer pipeline.
● Ensure volunteer needs are met across all programming opportunities.
Volunteer Placement & Coordination
● Lead the full volunteer lifecycle, including prospecting, recruiting, scheduling, onboarding, stewarding, and tracking participation across all JACF programs.
● Manage volunteer registration and serve as the primary contact for 3DE programming, and transition registered volunteers to Partnership Engagement Managers.
● Oversee “Know Before You Go” communications for all programs except 3DE.
● Work closely with program leads (e.g., 3DE, Inspire, BizTown) to align volunteer skills, demographics, and interests with student populations and program needs.
● Strategically select volunteers from partners whose engagement may also deepen community relationships or lead to future funding opportunities.
● Maintain updated communication logs and placement data in the designated CRM or tracking system.
● Coordinate and host onboarding sessions or training to prepare volunteers for their roles.
Volunteer Stewardship & Retention
● Foster strong volunteer relationships through consistent communication, recognition, and impact reporting.
● Support planning and execution of at least one annual volunteer appreciation event.
● Monitor satisfaction and collect feedback to improve the volunteer experience.
● Create and deliver a weekly report of volunteers who have completed recent engagements, providing the VP of Partnerships with actionable insights to identify re-engagement opportunities and potential funder conversions.
Process Management & Reporting
● Own and refine internal systems and SOPs for the volunteer cycle.
● Report monthly volunteer activity and metrics to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications (required)
● Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, public relations, or a related field preferred.
